We feel these bags are like paintings, and decided to start a gallery here. These may be sold, but are still fun to see.
Welcome to the Bearly Art recycled handbag page. These are made from recycled clothes, but sometimes we incorporate some new fabrics too. The lapels, sleeves and whatever we think is cool, becomes a prominent feature of the handbag. Styles range from totally casual to more business like but all have at least a sense of playfulness and whimsey. The bag front features a cell phone pocket and place to clip your keys is located there, or inside the bag near the top...so no more digging for those things; easy access to both phone and keys.
The interfacing is of course new, and we do mix in some new fabric sometimes to compliment the recycled clothing items on the outside. Linings are also sometimes new unless I find a large, light colored article of clothes that I think will work well for lining. I like to use light colors of lining to make it easier to find things. We use pockets from pants for pockets whenever possible. Also, my default setting is shoulder bags. They are just so much easier to carry and more practical for a busy woman. The pattern we use is my own design. This is the only style we do at this time. Soon, we will begin adding handbags that hold I-Pads, necklets and hats to our line, so watch for those here.
Prices are based on complexity/time spent and materials. Obviously I have to charge more for bags that are just loaded with pockets and expensive trims and buttons.

(Spot clean fabric you can tell is not silk, or dry clean. We never use dry clean only fabric for the bottom of the bag.) Also, the disclaimer: I am not a tailor. Coach is not lamenting the loss of me as one of their seamstresses. I would get fired in less than an hour. Sometimes my lines aren't good, and techniques aren't by the book....any book. I do however, sew strong, well designed handbags, that you will love to use, and that other women will covet...and isn't that what's important? What's more, once you own the bag other women want, they can never, ever get the same one, because I will NEVER do two bags the same. By customer request, I can work two together that are similar, but never the same.
